£Peb United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, January 22. Jean Hamilton, a nurse at the Avondale (Auckland) Mental Hospital, was thrown from a horse and sustained fracture of the skull. She died in the general hospital. HAMILTON, January 22. At the inquest on Charles James Reid, postal messenger at Frankton Junction, a verdict was returned that deceased met his death by being accidentally run over by a locomotive engine in the railway yard while in the execution of his duty. A rider was added that the jury recommend that postal baskets be deposited in a place where they -would foe safe for postal employees to collect, _ instead of being bundled out anywhere in station yards, as at present. WESTPORT, January 22. The body of a woman named Lindsay, 50 years of age, married, was found in th© lagoon this morning. . She Lid worked as housemaid in the City Hotel for two years, and mysteriously disappeared last evening. LEVIN, January .23. William Wearne, aged 34- years, a. carpenter, was killed yesterday evening by a fall from a pino tree while he was engaged in lopping. He was a resident of Wellington and the owner of a small farm in Levin, which he was visiting for the day.

INVERCARGILL, January 23. William Tielle, 54 years of age. a butcher at Orepuki, was'found dead.on Wednesday night in a paddock adjoining his house. Ho had been filling in an old water-raco on Tuesday afternoon, and' was last seen about 3.30 p.m. on that day.
