UMMAROA MEN REACH DUNEDIN.

THE TOFUA AT PORT CHALMERS.

About 120 Otago men who came to Wellington by the troopship Ulimaroa reached Dunedin yesterday afternoon by the special express at 4-. 58. Friends were on the station to welcome them, and motor cars, arranged for by the Motor Club and tho Soldiers' Welfare Committee, were in waiting to take them to their homes. There was some delay in cars coming forward, as word had been received during the afternoon that the train would not arrive until 6 o'clock, but by bringing the telephone into use the defence authorities very soon had plenty of cars at their disposal, and all the men were provided for. News unexpectedly reached Dunedin yesterday afterncn. r.hat. the troopship Tofua would reach Port Ohzlmers last night, and she came inside the Heads at 8.30 p.m. Tho boardmg staff, headed by Major Hickey, Captain Myers, and Captain Dol> son, went to the port Hv the 6.15 p.m. train to carry out medical inspection and other duties. There are 400 men on board. This morning tho men for smith of Dunedin will bo brought to town by the 7.9 train, .ind will leavo by tho express at 8.30. The Dunedin men will come up by the same train, and motor car owners will convey them to their homes.
