TRAMWAY NOTIFICATIONS. Tj-kUNEDIN TRAMWAYS DISPUTE. Pursuant to Section 6 of "The Labour Disputes Investigation Act, 1913," I am directed by the Minister of Labour to publish, the following proposals made by tho members of the Labour Disputes Committee appointed to investigate, tho abovementioned dispute. EMPLOYERS' PROPOSALS. That the conditions of employment shall practically be and remain as set forth in the expired Awards or Agreements and subject thereto the following wages shall bo paid:— ' Per Hour. The above proposal is subject to the express provisos following:— (a) That the Dunedin City Corporation is prepared to pay the above rate of wages forthwith. ■ (b) That the Dunedin and Roslyn Tram--1 way Company (Limited) and the, Dunedin and Kaikorai, Tramway Company' (Limited) ciin pay_ the above wages only when their. Companies are empowered to increase their fares under any necessary and enabling Order-in-Council to that effect - (c) The Dunodin. City Corporation, in addition to tho above wages, will continue the payment of the bonus known as the Baby Bonos daring its pleasure, but it may bo withdrawn at any tame. EMPLOYEES , DEMANDS. That the conditions of employment shall contain the following alterations of tie expired Awards or Agreements:— L That the working day shall be not less than eight hours, and the week of srx days to be not less than 48 working hours. 2. That all time worked ever eight hours in any one day shall be paid for at tima and a-half rates. 3. That all broken shifts shall consist of not' more than two parts, and the spread of hours shall be not more than 32. Definition of broken shift to be same as in Wellington Award. 4. Proportion of broken shifts shall not exceed one to four of straight shifts. 5. All call forward and call back duty to be paid for at time and half rates, with a minimum of two hours. 6. Sunday -work to bo paid lor at double rates. 7. No m*n shall be -worked more than five coßseetrfcive hours without a meal. HOLIDAYS. All employees covered by this Agreement "shall receive 14: coneecutive days' Annual Holiday on fall pay , The above are the main points of onr demands. There are other minor mattere which we desire altered. This Agreement shall remain in force for . a period of 12 months from October 6, 1918. Wages to be retrospective from 6th October, 1918. . .
