The double market resulted in very large entries of almost all classes of stock. Store sheep met with a very good demand for forward sheep, but backward eorte were more difficult to dispose of. An entry of 2533 fat lambs met with a briek eale for the Chrielmaa trade, and pricea improved on an average- by Iβ to Iβ 6d pear head, the quality of offering being an improvement on that of the previous week. Fat cattle, of which there • were 455 penned, sold at about the previous week's rates, although there were rather more than, were regjuired. Very heavy ■weighte, of which there were several head from Southland, did not sell nearly as well ee handy weights. Store cattle, of which there were about 1000 head yarded, met with a fair sole from a good attendance of buyers. Fat sheep were easier by about 2s to 3s per head on an average, but considering the number penned the sale was a good one.
