AMERICAN STEAMER SUNK.

EIGHTEEN LIVES LOST.

WASHINGTON, November 26. The Navy Department announces that 14 members of the crew of the American oil steamer Dumaru, which was struck by lightning and sunk on October 16 off the Island of Guam, have landed at the Philippines. They spent 47 days in an open boat. Eighteen of those aboard perished. The survivors were without food or water for 10 days, and rowed 1200 miles.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
