Palestine communique: French and British warships entered tho port of Beirut on Sunday and found the town evacuated. British and Indian infantry occupied tho place on- Tuesday, and were enthusiastically received. Our prisoners now total 75,G00, and not more than 17,000 of tho Turkish Fourth, Seventh, and Eighth armies escaped, these including only 4000 effective rifles. RELATIONS WITH BULGARIA STRAINED. (Received Oct. 11, at 10.35 p.m.) A Constantinople message states that the Porte l has been advised that Bulgaria is sending troops against Turkey, in accordance with the Allies' plans. It is expected that tho Bulgarian Minister will ■ be handed his passports. COMMUNICATION WITH GERMANY. A GERMAN CLAIM. AMSTERDAM, October 10. (Received Oct. 11, at 10.35 p.m.) A Berlin message claims that good communications have been already opened with Turkey through Odessa, enabling the transport of supplies.
FURTHER TURKISH RETIREMENT. LONDON, October 10. (Received Oct. 12, at 0.15 a.m.) Owing to our capture of railway centre of Rayak, the Turks have evacuated the country south of Homs. TURKEY TEMPORISING. AWAITING RESULT OF GERMANY'S MOVE. BERNE, October 10. (Received Oct. $6, at 1.15 a.m.) . Telegrams state that the Turkish Government has decided to await the conclusion of Germany's peace efforts. If these fail she will independently negotiate.
