Mr J. Thorp, orchard instructor at Wellington, has arrived in Duuedm to take the place of Mr \V. X. Goodwin, who iias coue into camp
Mr K. A. Buchanan, of the local Telegraph Office, has received notice of his appointment to postmaster, Clyde. ■ Several staff enanges are taking place at the Dunedin branch of the Public Trust Office. Mr T. R. Saywell (district manager at WanganuiJ has been appointed assistant to the Doputy Public Trustee at Dunedin, and Mr U. H. Chesterman (chiel clerk in the Dunedin ofiice) has been appointed to a position in the head office Mr C. J. Playne (of the head ofiice staff) has been appointed actuig district accountant at Dunedin.
In spite of the inclement weather on Saturday evening a largo number of residents attended a concert in the North-East Harbour Schoolhouse to say farewell to Miss M. E. C Morrison, who had" been mistress hi the school for the last three years. A musical programme provided bv some. of the residents was greatly enjoyed. Daring an interval, the chairman (Mr T. Landroth) presented Miss Morrison with a suitably inscribed tea-set, and after referring to tho good qualities of. the recipient and the esteem in which she was held, wished her every success, in her new sphere of work. Mr Irvine thanked the chairman and the residents for their kindness to his niece, and hoped she would do as good work at Kokonga, whither she was going. Yesterday morning, Mr J. M'Donald, who for 18 years has been a highly-orespected and efficient officer in the Lands and Survey Department at Dunedin, and who has received notification of his promotion t<> an important .position on the headquarters staff at Wellington, was presented with a suit-case by Mr R. T Sadd (Commissioner) as a parting gift from the staff. Mr Sadd sopke of the general regret of the staff at losing the companionship and efficient service of Mr M'Donald, but they congratulated him on his deserved promotion. The Rev. G. Heighway, who= after a lengthy period of valued service as pastor of King Street Congregational Church, accepted a call to Palmerston North, received a cordial welcome to his new charge. - Tho Mayor, ministers of other denominations, and a representative of the NoLicense League were associated with the congregation in welcoming Mr and Mrs Hoighway to their new sphere of labour, and a largo number of congratulatory telegrams were read.
