Immediately on arrival in England he joined up as an honorary ambulance driver on the ' west front, and has continued the work ' ever since with little intermission. 7 m. • a u e , advice has been received in [ Chnstchurcn by Miss Okey, Mexivale, that - Captain F. C. Roberts, attached to an Indian * regiment sen-ing in Mesopotamia, has been » awarded the Military Cross. Captain Roberts - left iSew Zealand with the Main Body as a trooper m tho Otago Mounted Rifles. Havi mg served in Kitchener's Horse during the i boiith African Avar, ho proved his worth, i and while training in Egypt gained his corns' nussion On account of his knowledge of - the Indum language, he was attached to the » Indian Expeditionary Force, being given the - rank of lieutenant. He was wounded at the - takinsr of Bagdad. On returning to his reiriment he was .promoted captain.
