CONGREGATIONAL SUNDAY SCHOOLS.

ANNUAL PRIZE CEREMONY. Tho annual prize distribution ceremony in connection ,with the Congregational Sunday School Union was held in tho King : Street Congregational Church on Saturday ev ® n ing. There was a large muster of scholars, parents, and friends, and the proceedings were of an enthusiastic and happy nature. The function opened and closed with. devotional exercises. The Rev. I. Sarginson (president of the union) presided over the meeting. Hon. Geo. Fowlds gave a. short address, in which he exhorted the children to be tine to church and the ideals held before them in the Sunday schools. During the coursc of the evening musical and other items were contributed by members of the Sunday schools at Port Chalmers, St. Clair, Moray place, Ravensbourne, Leith street, and King street. These •items were much appreciated, and helped to maintain tho interest of the auditors in the proceedings of the gathering. The prizes were presented by the Rev. I. Sarginson and the Hon. Geo. Fowlds. xhe examiners w'ere Messrs T. Begg and W. PhillippSj and the essays were judged by the Rev. G. Heighway. Timaru competed this year for the first time, and was successful in winning a number of prizes.
