WORKERS' DEMANDS. CITY COUNCIL'S ATTITUDE. (Pee United Pbess Association.) WELLINGTON, September 20. The City Council last night considered t ; amwa y position, when a proposal was tabled to approve of the business done in committee on the previous day. An amendment was moved that a bonus of 10 per cent. ■on ordinary timo and overtime be granted. The mover criticised the council for the manner in which the men's demands had been shelved from time to time. The council had attempted to placate the men with an offer of 5 per cent to married men. They ought to get enough to live on properly. The amendment was not seconded, and tho motion was carried, the effect of which is that men will be required to continue to work under the ' existing agreement.
