The stallion Kenilworth brought 4100 guineas. (Received Sept. 20, at 8.30 p.m.) The Merton stud sale comprised 79 lots, including the brood mares Flavescent (650 guineas), Go'.den Dawn (500 guineas), Eveille (675 guineas), and Elcia (520 guineas). Excepting for special lot 6 tha prices obtained were moderate. BRISBANE, September 20. A sample of "direct action" is provided in a strike at the Ross River meat works. All branches of the works knocked offsimultaneously, the carcases being left in. various stages of treatment, and the foremen alone having to place them in the freezing chamber. One of the employees stated that they had done with arbitration, and intended to resort to direct action.
