Young and old of both sexes should find entertainment and excitement at the sports gaJa at Carisbrook, commencing at 2.15 to-day. The athletic contests are varied and the issues, where the best elements in all tne sports are matched against other, speculatively interesting. A picked Pirates-University combination against an Otago represeatative team in a one-hour Kugby contest cannot fail to bo excitingand the other matches, including the running events, promise to bo equally keen and enjoyable, -pie St. Kilda Band will provide music school bands assisting; and creature comforts, including soft drinks, 2? ii- procurable. The bands will march n-om the Octagon at intervals from 2 p.m. A neat souvenir programme,' ono of which carries a prize to the value of one guinea, W1 rTTL. available at a small fee. Those attending His Majesty's Theatre tms evening will not onlv assist the worthy object of raising funds for the erection <>f dressing sheds on the Oval, but will witness an enjoyable entertainment. The programme is of a diversified and interesting character, and includes Dunedin's most prominent performers, both amateur and professional. Tho Kaikorai Band will march from the. Town Hail to the theatre, afterwards opening the programme with a selection from "Faust." This item will he followed by a vocal quartet bv the Idlers, s °np,by Mrs R. A. Power, Mrs Coventry ru F ' ore " ce Pacey; while Messrs John M Grath, S. H. Osborn, Trevor de Ci'Ye L°we, W. C.
