"THE MAN FROM PAINTED POST."

Sherwood is the man from Painted Post, a small town in Wyoming. Hi s chief accomplishment is an ability to use a gun. This characteristic is not hereditary—it js methodically and patiently acquired for a purpose. Years back a ba<i man, known as 30-30 Smith shot and killed his sister when she was resisting his attentions, and the forces of the law failed to apprehend "30-30." So Sherwood grimly prepared to weak vengenance if ever the opportunity offered. Later, in search of cattle "rustlers," Sherwood runs against a desperate character, Madden, and later meets a girl upon whom Madden is forcing his attentions. Sherwood gives Madden a warning to "get scarce," and in Madden's answer learns that he is none other than "30-30" Smith, the man ho has vowed to get. But Sherwood is torn between a desire to respect the feelings of the girl he has learnt to love and to whom violence is abhorrent, and to redeem his vow. Madden eventually forces an issue, and Sherwood's ability as a gunman brings the story to a most satisfactory ending. This picture, will lie featured in the new programme at the Empire Theatre to-day, supported by chapter 15 of "The Great Secret" and a good travelogue.
