ANNUAL MEETING. Tho twenty-eovont>h. juinual meeting of tlio Olago Yaolifc and Motor .Boat Club was liolr.t last night. Mr 11. E. It, would probably bo. nccessary to scoure further thuds, (is the present accommodation was all taken up, and several members were anxious to obtain sheds. Tho financial (position was fairly satisfactory under present conditions; but tho club had somo heavy expenditure, to meet in tho near future which ' would require all its surplus funds. In moving tho adoption of tho report and balance sheet, the Chairman said the affairs of tlio club had been carried out in a satisfactory manner. Tho chief work had been practicidly that of keeping tho club until the boys rqfcurn from tho front. Iho onus of that work fell on tho secretary, and though outsiders might think that the club was not so energetic as formerly, tho 'work of tho. secretary was not lessened by that circumstance. Reference was made to dilatoriness in paying subscriptions. Ho congratulated tho winners of tile various races, and made special reference to tho fino performance put up by the Port Chalmers entrants. In conclusion, the speaker said they wero indebted to the Harbour Board for facilities provided in various ways. Roar-commodore W. R. Waters seconded tho motion, to which Messrs N. Oliphant and J. A. M'Donald also spoke, The lastnamed said he had been very pleased to note the high standard of racing and seamanship. Ho thought it would be wise to furnish more trophies and races, which would stimulate an interest in tho sport. Hazlett; secretary, Mr E. S. Wilson; committee—Messrs C. G. Smith, C- W. Sundstrum, 11. F. Nees, J. R. Cameron, J. Briggs, A. Morgan, R. Gregory, D Patterson. T. Brooks, J. A. M'Donald. and A. E. Jenkins; delegates to association— Messrs Hanlon, Hazlett, and Sundstrum; auditors— Messrs Oliphant and M'Donald. Un the motion of Mr 11. F. Nees a vote of appreciation was passed of tho work of our boys at tho front, members standing a»d smgmg & verse of "Rule Britannia." Ihe Rear-commodore presented prizes won during tho season to tho owners of the following boats:—General handicap for sailPS yachts, Waim-ana; 1, Tucana 2, Miti 6; general handicap for motor boats— iUircka 1, Mah&ra 2 : Norana 3; cruisinor races (yachts)—Vera 1, Waimana 2, Tucana 3; motor boats-Thistle 1, Zealandia 2, x aimer 3. The Chairman made special reference to the outings provided for the eh-'klren of the various orphanages.—Mr M'Donald congratulated the club on its thoughtful action m this respect.—On tho motion of Mr Nees L 7°, tha-nfe was passed to all who had assisted to make the outings a success.
