(Received June 13, at 8.5 p.m.) Giving evidence before the Rand Strike Inquiry, the President of the Chamber of Mines said the gold industry reached a limit as to what could be done in regard to wages and working cost. If further burdens were imposed on the industry the prosperity of the Rand would be destroyed and the prosperity of South Africa jeopardised.
