Tho Daily Chronicle states that a, sensational charge in connection with communicating to Germany information of military importance will to-dav l>e bi'oughfc against a well-known manufacturer, who is a'knight, and was formerly Lord Mayor of a- North of England towii. There will also be another defendant who has been, holding a position in a Government department. Both ere naturalised British subjects. RELEASED ON BAIL. LONDON, Jun6 % l2. (Received June 13, at 8.5 p.m.) Sir Joseph Jona6, ex-Lord Mayor of Sheffield, was charged at Bow street, and released on bail, which was fixed at £2000, with communicating information useful to the enemy, between ISI3 and June 1918. [Sir Joseph Jonas is a native of Germany, having been born at Bingen-on-the-Rhine in 1845, and was educated in that country, at Bingon aaid .Cologne. Ho is a steel manufacturer, and is chairman of three commercial companies- -Sir Joseph Jonas, Colver. and Co (Limited) : Colver Bros. (Limited; ; and W. T. Boeslev and Co. (Limited) lie war.
