Eleanor overhears a conversation between her husband and a man named Worthington, learns of the "weak not committed by her husband in youth unci becomes aware that thero is an attempt beirur made to blackmail liirn She sets to work to defeat the plot, her modus operandi being to obtain possession of a paper, winch her husband is commanded to steal under pain of exposure. This is held by Worthington, and she succeeds in Retting hold of it. Her next move- is 1o go to a detective named Foley, for thy purpose of handing over the document in exchange for tho signed confession of her husband. The detective, after getting from her the document sho has abstracted fails to give up the confession. That night she returns to Foley's apartments, finds him iialf intoxicated, a.nd attempts to drw him Ho seizes her, but in so doing stumbles, and in falling strikos hie head, and becomes ineensible. Moanor secures the papers, and gets safely back. Other incidents follow, but everything comes right in tho end.
