AMUSEMENTS.

Thero wore good audiences at the Octagon and King Edward Theatres yesterday, the attraction being Mae Marsh in " Folly of the Circus." This is a very fine photoplay, some of the ecenes beinjr most realistic. An interesting romance runs right through the piece, and the very clever acting of Miss Marsh throughout readily appeals to the audienoe. This picture was followed closely by. those present, and at the conclusion the applause from the audience was clearly a demonstration of approval of the play and of appreciation of Miss Marsh's ability as an actress. "Polly of the Circus" will bo screened at the Octagon at the matinee to-day, and in the evening at both theatres.

The delightful acting of Pawline Stark as Margy in " Until They Get Me," to be screened at the Queen's to-day, is an outstanding feature. She first appears as' an ill-used waif, who helps an outlaw to escape, and runs away with him. Later they part. She falls in with the North-West Police, is adopted by tho sergeant's wife, and develops into a vivacious and charming young woman who loves and is loved by a young trooper. This trooper has sworn to capture the outlaw whom Margy has d'ssisted, and a stem conflict between love and honour ensues. Charles Chaplin, in " The Adventurer," will be screened for the balance of the week, and there will be a new instalment of "■Tho No.srlected Wife" serial.

In "The Fires of Youth," a Pathe film, ■which is to bo screened at Everybody's Theatre to-day, Frederick Warde does some fine work as " Iron-hearted Pemberton," the implacable owner of immense steel works. Ho had devoted his whole life to the pursuit of wealth, and has sacrificed even his employees'' lives rather than incur expense to instal safety devices. As a middle-aged man he befriends an urchin named Billy. In order to have mcrre of the urchin's company he obtains work in his own steel works as Peterj Brovsrn. One dav he does not' go to work, and Billy takes his place. The boy is quite unaware that his friend is Pemberton, and while doing . Brown's work is severely injured through lack of safetv devices. Thus PembHton, as Brown, with the order for safety equipment in hia pocket, sees Billy brought home. The workers draw lots for whom shall kill Pemberton. Pemberton, as Brown, draws the black cross, and is about to fulfil his task by taking his own life when a great ichanire takes plaoe. The final chapter of " Lucille Love," a tworeel Keystone comedy, and a Topical Budget complete the. programme.
