GAELIC SOCIETY

For the entertainment of country friends, the Gaelic Society held its monthly meeting last evening, instead of on June 14. Tho hall was crowded in every part, and many old friendships were renewed. The chief (Mr D. M'Pherson) occupied the chair, and was supported by Chieftains Kenneth Cameron and Wm. Duncan. The chief extended a hearty welcome to the many country friends. Hβ drew the audience's attention to the Pipers and Dancere , . competition and concert to bo held in ai'4 of tho Highland and Islands' Relief Fund. An excellent programme of song's and dances followed, the following being tho contributions:—Mrs Mivor (Gaelib songs), "0' mar ha me" and "Hi oro's na horo cile"; Miss Riddell danced a eeaunntrubhais; Mr Mailer (Gaelic song), "Ghruagaeh Dhonn" and air, "Fal-al-al 0"; Master Robertson, the fling; Mrs Ward, " Dear Old Scotland"; Mr Wattcrson. "Soote Wba Hae"; Miss M. Sager, "Yβ Banke and Braes" ; Master Willie M'Kenzio, sword dance; Mr Brookman, "My Bonny Jean"; Mr Kennedy (Gaelic song), "Fhloasgaich Oig"; Miss E. Eager, "We'd Better Bide a Wee"; Miss M'Kinnon, a piano seleotion of Highland airs; Mr and Mies Eager, duct, "Ma Crookit Bawbee." A quartette of Commercial Travellers' Entertainers aho sang. Miss Reeve played the accompaniments, and Pipers C. M'Donald and A. M'MiUaa the national music. The upua.l hour's dancing followed, with. Mr A. M'Kenzio as M.C.
