The United States Navy Department's advices say that the German submarines are operating much further from their bases than heretofore, but they are still in European waters. The U boats are talcing new courses, and seeking for vessels travelling on unusual lines. NEW ZEALAND MAILS LOST. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Reuter. ' LONDON, May 27. (Received May 28, at 7.50 p.m.) The Press Bureau reports : The Post-master-general announces that parcel fnaile from New Zealand, posted between the 11th and 19th March, were lost at sea through enemy action. LONDON, May 27. „ (Received May 28. at 8.10 p.m.) The Daily Mail's naval correspondent says there are two German types of submersibles cruisers; one, the best, is described as a diving cruiser of about 500 tons, with a high superstructure and armed with three guns.
