CONVALESCENT HOME. A meeting of business mon was hold in tho New Zu:ilojid Express Company's board room y&stcrday uiUmoon, the Kev. (i. H. Bailour presiding. Tho Cnairman said ho felt we should all do what wo could for our boys returning from the front, especially those who came homo sick and wounded. This meeting was calkd to consider tho organising of a carapaign to raise the ncocssary funds to open tho Convalescent Koine at Montecillo free of debt. lie had visited the place, and considered it a most suitable site for such a homo. This effort was to be purelv voluntary, and would take tile form of selling designs to bo hung in windows by every citizen in Dunedin. It was suggested that tho campaign should occupy one week, and he felt sure the public would respond generously. If overyone contributed., not necessaoly large amounts, the required sum woulci be obtained The Rov. V. King said the Red Cross nnd a small committee, and it was impossible for it to carry out this project. Jhe campaign would probabily take placo during the third or fourth week in June. In reply to a question by Mr G. A. ienwick, as to what would become of tho home when it was not further required for military purposes Mr E. Rosevear said the home would bs handed over to some institution on similar lines to the Red Cross booicty, Mr Rosevear reported that the Government would pay half the cost of anv alterations, and the home, while being managed bv the Red Cross Society, would bo under military control. Patients would be sent to the home and discharged by the military authorities. On the motion of Mr S. B. Macdonald, those present formed themselves into a committee, and Mr C. P. M Butterworth was electea chairman. The committee appointed a sub-committee to draw -up a schume, and after some discussion tho meeting was adjourned until 10.30. tins morning, when tho whole matter will be fully discussed. MILTON COT. A special effort to raise £100 for tho endowment of a Milton cot in tho Convalescent Home at Montecillo has been promoted by members of tho Toko Rovers i<ooLball Cluo, in co-operation with the Milton branch ot the Red Cross Society A novelty sports meeting was held last Saturday aiternoon. It was largely patronised, and proved highly successful. In the ovenmtg a concert was held in tho Coronation JrJall, which was packed to its utmost capacity, llie programme was presented by the Dunedin Commerical Travellers' choir L T ?J? CS '. lIDc)or tlle conductorship of Mr X. llitchie. A bright programme of part songs, quartets, duets, and solos was given, and met with hearty appreciation Approximately tho sum of £30 lias been raised, which, with tho salo of tickets, should ormg the target of £100 within measurable distance of accomplishment.
