OTAGO RUGBY UNION. Tha weekly meeting oi tho O.R.F.TJ. Committee was hold last night. Mr H. Harris presided The Union Ckrb was granted permission to send a team to Milton on the 3rd prox., the name of the manager to bo supplied. Mr J- King (referee) wrote stating that during tho progress of the Kaikorai v. Union match he had oocaaion to order J. Robaon, a member of the Union team, off the field for illegally bumping an opponent after he had kicked tho ball.—.Robson to attend next meeting. The Secretary of the Southland Union wrote inquiring if it (the 0.R.F.U.) was agreeable to the revival of tho home-and-home representative matches this season.— Request acceded to, the first match to bo played at Invercargill, the Southland Union to suggest a date. The Secretary of tho Port Chalmers Club reported that Barnes, who played for Kaikorai at Bishopscourt on the 18th inst., was not in a fit state to play football, and that during the progress of the game he knocked out the Port Chalmers full back after he had got rid of the ball, and that he deliberately kicked Smith, who, on the W>ur of the moment, used an expression which ho very much regretted, and who afterwards apologised to Barnes, who, howevor, refused to accept it. Smith is a returned soldier, having been three years on active service, and it was his first offence on the football field.—Mr Cavanagh feree) wrote an the same subject, stating tnat he had occasion to order H. Next Monday being a holiday, it was resolved that the next committee meeting be held on Monday, June 10, any urgent matters arising in the interim to be dealt with by Messrs Stuart, Nelson, and the president. OTAGO FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. The weekly meeting of the executive of the Otago Football Association was held in Mr S. SS. Myers's rooms last evening. Mr W. R. Sinclair occupied the chair. Permission was granted to the Southern Club to send a team to Kaitangata on June 3. It was also decided to endeavour to make arrangements for sending a junior eleven to Kaitangata on the same date. An inquiry was held concerning a report from Mr R B. Robinson (referee in the match between Green Island and Old Boys), who stated that he had found occasion to order off Samson, of Green Island, for dangerous play and for deliberately kicking an opponent. He had also had reason to caution Dunwoodie, of Green Island, for rough play.—The referee said he had had no occasion to caution any of the Old Boys' players. He had cautioned Dunwoodie twice.—ln reply to Mr M 'Allan, he said he had cautioned Dunwoodie the first time for threatening to fight another player, a member of the Old Boys' team. He denied that both men were threatening to fight, the offence being confined to Dunwoodie.—ln reply to Mr Brown, the referee said there had been no trouble with the other Green Island players, although three or four members of the team needed some looking after in the interests of their own club. They had used "pretty fair language" and had "shown fighting qualities."—Samson admitted that he had kicked an opposing player, but he did not know where he had indulged in dangerous play. The people on the lino had influenced him to some extent, and had made him slightly excited. The player he had attacked had "played the man" all day instead of the balL He was under the impression that this player had been blocking him illegally throughout the game.—lt was decided that Samson be suspended for four playing Saturdays from the date of his offence, whereupon the chairman severely cautioned the offender.—Dunwoodie admitted that he had kicked another player, although the charge against him was one of dangerous play.—The chairman also cautioned this player, and warned him that if he appeared before the association again he would be dealt with much more severely.—The incident closed with a vote of thanks to the referee for the action he had taken in the matter.
