The Trades Hall Council has altered its rules governing strikes by providing for a discussion by the representatives of all the unions involved and of the Industrial Disputes Council before a strike is declared. The council will also be empowered to end a strike at any time. Fire destroyed the Australian Nail and Wire Company's factory on the South wharf. The damage amounts to £15,000.
