THE MORNINGTON TRAMWAY SERVICE.
TO THK EDITOR. Sib, —Having recently purchased a motor car, I have incidentally loarnt the rule of tho road, which is "keep t-o the lefts" I have also discovered that this law holds good for all kinds of street traffic. Thanks to this law, «:id the observance thereof, I have become a careful and law-abiding driver, and have none of that absurd fear of a simple corner. I recently discovered, however, that my theories were worth nothing bccause, turning one day from William street into High street, at tho same time keeping religiously to tho left half of the road, I was confronted by tho truly terrifying spectacle of a Mornington cable car moving in tho opposito direction on -the right half of the road, and it was luck alone that prevented a nasty accident. Now, Sir, it is remarkable that the corporation by-laws may be ignored only by tho corporation itself. Of course, there may be good and sufficient reason for this practice, but it would eavo a lot of ill-feeling if these reasons were made public. As affairs are now, these trams constitute a public danger, and it is the duty of the corporation to tuko immediate steps to obviate this.— I am, ctc.. Motorist.
