OTAGO HUNT CLUB
SEVENTH ANNUAL MEETING. The seventh annual meeting of the Otago Hunt Club was held at the secretary's office, Empire Buildings, last night. The president (Mr B. S. Irwin) occupied the chair. The annual report stated that the ranks of the hunt had been sadly depleted as a result of the war. but the season had been fairly successful. The active members were now beyond or below the military age, or otherwise debarred from going to the front. The club looked forward confidently to another good year. The property was in good condition, and there was an excellent pack of hounda. In moving the adoption of the report, the Chairman remarked that the Hunt was quite 40 years old, but had been resuscitated seven years ago mainly through the activity of their present secretary (Mr H. Divers). The club was prospering, and was doing excellent work in providing a stamp of horse _ that would always be useful to the Empire. They had a credit balance of £59 16s lOd in the bank, and they had also assets moderately valued 1 at £100. The past season had been very successful!? carried through, and everything pointed to an equally successful season this year, though no doubt their ranks would be still further depleted. He referred to the fact that a recent secretary (Mr Shugar) had been passed fit, and was shortly going into oamp. He spoke of the valuable services Mr Shugar had rendered the club, and expressed the goodwill of members. Mr J. A. Jordan seconded the motion, and referred to numerous members of different branches of the club who had given their lives in the great war. Ho considered the club had prospered wonderfully well.
