The drain was cleaned out some time ago on tho understanding that in future those responsible for the discharge would attend to it in future.—lt wag decided that tho School Committee and residents bo allowed to clean out tho ditches referred to, and that those discharging noxious matter into the channels be informed that they must stop the practice immediately. The Ranger reported that the owner of the hedge at Janefield Corner refused to out it to the required hoight. Some owners or occupiers whose hedges overshadowed Klaikorai Valley road had complied with a request to trim them; others whom he had not found at home would be written to.— It was resolved to send official notice to the owners referred to. Corresoondence. —Joseph Hall. Berwick, asked that two chains of road past his house bo put in order. He would assist in forming the water tables.—To be attended to. Li. C. Hazlett and A. Rankin applied to have certain road lines that ran through their properties, and which had never been formed, transferred to them.— Granted, on usual conditions. The Town Clerk, Dunedin, wrote asking the council to take under provisions of tho Public Works Act, tho land required for tho construction of proposed new roadway past Berwick, to oonnect with the Waipori Falls road. —R. D. Wilson wrote objecting to this, and stating that he would hold the Taieri Council responsible for a road up the Berwick Flat.—Received. Hugh Drennan, Lee Stream, drew attention to tho bad crossing over Broad Creek. —Engineer to report. William Flett drew attention to the state of the bridge at M'Laren's Gully, Otokia riding.—To be attended to as soon as timber could be delivered. General.—On Cr Kempshell's motion it was resolved to erect a protection fence at dangerous places on .Waipori River bank, between Berwick and Henley.—Or Kempshall reported that Messrs Wilson and Wither, Berwick, were prepared to offer a roadway through their properties in lieu of Mill Creek road, which was impassable.— A deputation _ to wait on these owners. On Cr Blackie's motion it was resolved that eight trucks of metal be procured for Riverside road; also that the grader be put over roads where necessary in his ridincr.—ln answer to Cr 81-ackie, the Engineer said he could not get the metal from the quarry for Millar's road any quicker, as the railway was not removing the three trucks per day as arranged.
