A MYSTERIOUS ACCIDENT
BOY KILLED ON FACTORY LEFT, A distressing accident, presenting somi extraordinarily puzzling features, and hav ing a fatal result, occurred at Messrs Ros and Glendining's clothing factory abou 9.50 yesterday morning. The victim wa a lq.d named George Joyce, 15 years of age employed as an apprentice cutter. TL boy was found lying 011 top of tho lift with his legs dangling clear, and held ii Pflsition by a bale of denim some ii weight lying across his fa.ee. Tho fac that ho was still alive when rescued i taken as proof that he could not have beei longer than two or three minutes in tha position, which would quickly have causei suffocation. The head was found to hav been badly crushed, and he was taken t tho Hospital, where he died at 3 p.m., with out regaining consciousness. Those who found him are completely r a loss to account for the extraordinary posi tion -n which both lie and the bale wer found, and look on it as a mystery tha will never now bo solved. The top of th lift was level with the first floor, and th bale of denim belonged to the grouu floor. Tho parents of the unfortunate la live at No. 63 Easthcr crescent, Cavei sham. An inquest will bo opened before Mr J R. Bartholomew at 2.15 p.m. to-day at th Hospital.
