Clifford, hon. treasurer) a contribution of £31 19s 2d to the Church Army Fund. MEDICAL CERTIFICATES. (Peb United Press Association. I WELLINGTON, May 22. Medical certificates furnished by men who aro called up for examination under the Military Service Act for the information of the Medical Board cease to be the property of the reservists concerned when once they are handed over, and are not therefore returned to them after the examination. The military authorities take the stand that the information contained in the medical certificates is often of a highly confidential nature, and in order to safeguard the interests of the man examined the medical boards have considered it advisable to destroy the certificates immediately after perusal by the examining doctors. "If the reservist desires to retain the certificate he has to ask his medical adviser to furnish a certificate _ in duplicate—one copy being for the Medical Board .and one for himself. TAIERI WOMEN'S ASSOCIATION. The usual amount of work was handed out and made-up garments received at the meeting of the Taieri Women's Patriotic Association on Tuesday. A deputation from the Taieri Bowling Club-handed over a cheque for £120, the result of the club's share in the recent bowlers' effort for patriotic purposes. The spokesman specially thanked the ladies for the manner in which they had toiled in the interests of the bowlers' eilort. HELPING SOLDIERS' CHILDREN. Tho many needs of the soldiers on active service are apt to make people forget the urgent necessities of wives and children of the fighting men. This aspect of the war has received special attention from tho Church Army. Recreation rooms for soldiers' wives and widows have been opened in many parishes; the Army also helps many poor women who have been summoned to France to see badly-wounded relatives. The Army's Holiday Home at Godstono has been set.aside for tho motherless children of soldiers.
