DUNEDIN EIRE BOARD

Hie meeting of the Dunedin Fire Board, held yesterday afternoon, was attended by Messrs T. Chalmer (chairman), Wilson, Scott, Arkle, Webb, and Hislop. The Chairman referred to trie deplorable fatality that occurred last week whereby Foreman Baxter lost his lifo and three other members of the brigade were injured. He had alroady written to Mrs Baxter expressing thd sympathy of the brigade and his own sympathy, but ho thought a forrtial motion should also bo recorded. He moved that the sympathy of the board be conveyed to Mrs Baxter in the sorrow that had fallen upon her in the loss of her husband, and also that the board' 6 sympathy be conveyed to tho injured members ° the bngado now suffering by reason of the same accident. Tho late Foreman Baxter, he said, was a splendid type of man and was so regarded by all the officers of the brigade.—The motion was carried in the usual way.
