Surgeon-general Henderson is expected to arrive in Dunedin to-morrow night. Lieutenant-colonel A. F. Roberts is at present in Dunedin for a few days' holiday. Ho is attached to Defence Headquarters at Wellington. The Hon. J. T. Paul and Mr A. Walker, M.P., will leave Dunedin thie morning for the West Coast, having been invited by the Grey Labour Representation Committee to take part in the election campaign at present proceeding there. At a meeting of the High Street School Committee last night Miss W. B. Inder was appointed junior assistant. titNonstable J. J. Hodgson, stationed at Waikouaiti, has been promoted to the rank of sergeant, and has been transferred to Chris'tchurch. Under medical advice, Superintendent Napier, of the Citv Fire Brigade, will leave to-day for a holiday at Queenstown. The chairman of the Fire Board (Mr T. Chalmer) reported the matter to the board yesterday, and indicated that Mr Napier might have to take extended leave before he was thoroughly fit again. He had had a great deal of anxiety lately, particularly in view of the difficulty of securing suitable men t° keep the brigade at its full strength. Traffic Inspector Steele, who has been in the employ of the Dunedin City tramway service for the past 15 years, has resigned his position in order to take up work in connection with the Anglican Memorial Home for Boye. Inspector Steele has been one of the most courteous and efficient 1 officials of the tramway service.
