OTAGO ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

Tho regular meeting of the council of the Otago Acclimatisation Society was held last night; present—Messrs G. W. M'lntosh (pretident), A. E. Jenkins, Brinsley, C. S. Jenkins, Hungerford, Pa'ttison, Cowio, J. R. Wilson, Rutherford, and Cousins. Mr J. Steven reported that the floods had had a very disastrous effect on tho liih rack in the Waiwera. He doubted if anything could lie done to repair the damage.—Received. It was resolved that a contract for culling 1 500 deer in the Hunter Valley be let to Messrs Hodgldns and Buckley at 3s 6d por head. The Chairman mentioned that California!! quail were being poisoned in the Roxburgh district. It was suggested that the society get into communication with landowners using poison for the destruction of rabbits, and ask them if they could not use some other method of destroying the rabbits. It was agreed to communicate with tho Minister of Internal Affairs, drawing hia attention to the destruction of Qua.il, and suggesting that pollard might be used; further, that tho local representative at Roxburgh be written to in tho matter. The following nominations were received: President. Mr G. W. M'lntosh; vice-presi-dents, Messrs R. Rutherford and A. E. Jenkins; members of council—Messrs R. Brir.sley, W. S. Pattison, S. Cousins, A. Cowie, John Black, T. Lang, H. lelip, Tj Haekett, W J. Robinson, B. Hatfield. On the motion of Mr Brinsley a voto of thanks was passed to Mr M'lntosh for tho great- amount of work he had dono in connection with the affairs of tho society, a similar compliment being paid to Mr' C. P. M. Butterworth. It was agreed to vote tho employees a bonus, the same as laet year.
