THE PITTSBURG EXPLOSION
FATALITIES EXCEED FIRST ESTIMATE. Preni Association—By Telegraph—Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. NEW YORK, May 19 (Reoeived May 20, at 9.25 p.m.) It is estimated that the fatalities in connection with the explosion of trinitratolyl at the Pittsburg chemical factory are at least 200. Buildings within a large area wero wrecked. The rescuers were handicapped by noxious gases and the heat. Debris was thrown for great distances. Many of those who are wounded may yet die. There were many explosions in quick succession, and some of the rescuers perished.
