COMPLETE DEFEAT OF ENEMY. SEVERE LOSSES INFLICTED. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association and Router. LONDON, May 18. (Received May 19, at 11.15 p.m.) East Africa official: There was severe fighting on the sth inst. westward of Nanungo, where the bulk of the German force is concentrated. A small body of tho King's African Rifles surprised an important German camp, entered it, and set the huts on fire. The enemy strongly counter-attacked, and heavily engaged our force all day at very close quarters. We eventually defeated the enemy, driving him oft' northward, with severe los6es. General von Lettow Vorbeck commanded tho enemy force. Our convergent movement on Nanungo continues.
