J he recent conference of delegates from trades unions recommended tho organisations to urge the United Federal tion of Übour to call a national conferenco to consider fche question of conscription of laoour. Jlie council agreed to tho following mot ion' That this council is onposed to the suggestion of the recent conferenco of delegates from Auckland trades unions hat a, national open conference should ba held to oeal with tho proposed conscription of ,abour, believing that the question should l> " and dealt with by the annual eorifrn-neo of the United Federation of i/abour. The council discussed llie coming by-elro-tion m the Grey, sent forward a donation to tho campaign funds, and carried the following resolution : —" That the Otago Lahour Council corrlially wishes Mr 11. 10. Holland and the T>abour Party in Grey success at tho coming by-olectioiij being of opinion that the only way to Jn»press the Government with the fact that the people want a better Government, and a general election in order to get that bettor Government, is to return opponents of tho Government whenever possible."
