The monthly meeting of tho committee of the Otago A. and P. Society was held yesterday, Mr J. Macandrew president) in the chair.

Ihe Financo Committee submitted the balance sheet, which it was resolved to liavo printed and circulated.

Accounts amounting- to £370 lis 9d were passed for payment. The Grounds Committee reported on the position of the Tahuna branch line, explainin detail tho arrangements that had been made between the society and tho City Corporation. Tho committee recommend&d that tho apphcatiin frim the Duned-n Gun Club for holding clay pigeon shooting matches occasionally at Tahuna Park be granted at a stated foe, provided the matches did not interfero in any wa v with tho society's other arrangements.—The report was adopted. Tho Chairman intimated that a conference had been held between the president and committee of the Otago Women's Patriotio Association and tho executive of the society in connection with tho catering and other detaUs at the Winter Show, and explained w Ajit had taken place at the meeting. After considerable discussion it was resolved to hand over the catering arrangements and to grant two stalls to tho association, and also to meet the association in other ways, roalising the good work that it is doing on behalf of the boys at the front. Tho Secretary of the New Zealand Council of Agriculture wrote intimating that the Minister of Finance had introduced a clause in the Finance Bill providing for the exemption of agricultural and pastoral societies from tho amusement tax, as f<vr as admission to tho grounds and buildings (not side shows) is concerned.—Received. Mr T. W. Kirk, Director of tho Horticultural Division, wrote, on behalf of Messrs Goodwin and Earp, promising their services as required by the society for jud«--in S,/ rUlt and " on °y—Received with thanks. The Secretary for Agriculture intimated that the Minister of Agriculturo was taking stops to ascertain whether sheep dip mixtures put up for sale were satisfactory dips for killing ticks and lice on sheep. The following A. and P. Societies also wrote strongly supporting this society's ' action— namely: Manawatu, Wanganui, Hawko's Bay, Waikato, Timaru, Canterbury, Southland, and Marlborough, and suggested that this important matter be sent as a remit to tho next Agricultural Conference in Wellington.—This suggestion _ was adopted. The following nominations were received for officers of the society for the forthcoming year:—President, Mr R, A. S. Cantrell (Dunedin); vice-president, Mr H. M. Driver (Clarendon); retiring members of committeo Peninsula. Mr J. Macandrew; Dunedin— Messrs J. Loudon and H. Price; Taieri— Messrs A. Johnson and J. Nimmo; Waikbuaiti and Waihemo—Messrs A. S. Orbell' and W. ; Gardiner, jun.; Bruce, Clutha, and Tuapeka—Messrs D. Murray and J. F. Herbert; Central Otago, Mr W. Laidlaw. It was unanimously resolved that the executive be authorised to give tho necessary notices to amend tho rules in the direction of altering the distribution of seats to suit the requirements of new districts, members being of opinion that the Clutha district should have further representation, and that the fruit-growing districts of Central Otago should not be overlooked. The hon. treasurer pointed out that quite a number of members of tho society were now at tho war, and asked that tho Financo Committee bo authorised to include in tho list of subscribers any member of tho society who is serving at the front and whoso subscription has not been paid and to adjust the matter in the society's books.—Agreed to.

The following now members were elected: Messrs R. H. A. Jeff (Clinton) and 0. R Tlirop (To Houka).
