DRAINAGE BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of tho Drainage Board was; held last night; present—tho Mayor (Mr J. J. Clark), and Messrs Taverner, Black, Small, Hancock, Wilson, Sineock, and J. ].!. Shacklock. Thp report of the Works Committee was adopted without discussion. 'Ihe Finance Committee recommended an incroaso in tho drainage rate of Id in tho pound 011 sewered properties—or Is in all— and Ad in tho pound on unseweretl properties—or 6d in the pound. Upon every unsowered property in tho outer drainage area tho general rato to bo 2d in tho pound. Mr Taverner said tho increased rating w-ould bring in £3000.—Tho recommendation was adopted. It was decided to proceed with the reconstruction of a number of sowers in Ashley place. Moray plaoe, Montpelier street, and Queon's Drive, at a cost of £190.
