HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

Tho following aro extracts from the reports of committees to bo presented at the meeting on Thursday:—

The Benevolent Committee reports having dealt with 66 cases for relief at a weekly cost of £28 3s. Casual cases for relief, amounting to £165, wero approved. During tho month nine persons havo been admitted to, eight discharged from, and two deaths liavo occurred at tho Otago Benevolent Institution. At present 182 inmates remain. Payshoetii and accounts amounting to £1273 14s 7d have been passed for payment. Tho Sanatorium Committee- reports that paysheets and accounts amounting to £365 3s havo been passed for payment. Tho Hospital Committee reports that Dr Ferguson and tho medical superintendent have been authorised to fully report on the proposed district nursing scheme and salary to bo paid and duties of the medical officer of tho out-patient dispensary. During tho period from December 9 to January 14,12 patients have been admitted to, seven discharged from, and 14 persons remain in tho Fever Hospital. Paysheets and accounts have been passed for payment amounting to:—General account, £2646 17s 4d; Campbell interest account, £154 9s 6d. Tho report of tho Finance Committee states that tho application from the Kaitangata Hospital Committee for the erection of an isolation ward at North Balclutha has been referred to the inspectorgeneral for his advice thereon. Tho application from the Kaitangata Hospital Committee for the erection of another ward or alterations to tho present one, in order to provide for maternity cases at Kaitangata. has been referred to the inspector-general for his advice thereon. • The report submitted by the medical superintendent in reference to the admission of cases from the South Canterbury Board's district, the urgencies of which have been queried, has been approved, and instructions given to notify the South Canterbury Waitaki. Vincent. Maniototo, Southland, and Wallace and Fiord Boards of the overcrowded state of Dunedin Hospital, that their patients will bo accepted for treatment in Dunedin Hospital only under very exceptional circumstances, and requested to advise the medical practitioners of their districts to this effect. Paysheete and accounts have been passed for payment amounting to £5211 2s 6d. "
