Mails close at the Chief Post office, Dunedin, as under: — L»ate-foe letters for North and_ Soith Expresses may now bo posted in Pillar Posting Box in front of Railway Station.

Mails for South Sea Islands by next available steamer. Mails for United Kingdom, Expeditionary Forces abroad, America, and all oversea countries, including Avftralia, will be despatched from time b timo by the best route without special notification. Letters usually superscribed " via Suez" should now be superscribed " for first direct steamer. Correspondence for all neutral countries 18 subject to censorship.

THE CO-OPERATIVE FRUITGROWERS. The Co-opcrativo Fruitgrowers of Otago (Ltd.) report: Heavy consignments of fruit ;ire coming forward, though choice dessert fruit always commands keen attention. Small fruits are about over, and thos-o requiring preserving fruits, such as apricots, peaches, aud plums, would bo well advised to place their orders with tho load fruiterers or storekeepers immediately. All lines of produce are meeting a good demand. Eggs and butter scum to be in excess of requirements. We received and sold:—Apples: Cab'fornian, 5s to 13s for choice; new season's dessert, 2d to 3,id; cooking, lid to 2d. Bananas: Choice, 20s. Lemons: "Mission" brand 30O's, 455. Oranges: Californian nam Is, 255. Peanuts, sid. Tomatoes : Nelson, 6s to 10s per case for choico; Christchurch, 6£d, 9id; locals, 9d to lid; Central tomatoes, 6id to 9id. Apricots: Small, lid to 2id; dessert, 2i<3 to 3id. Peaches: Crates and cases choice, 3d to sgd; cases (jam), 2d to 2id. Pears: Choico, 3d to 4d; others, lid.
