— Shortage of farthings wne alleged as an excuso by a grocer who, at Bootle (England), was fined £5 for charging 6£d instead of 6Jd for a quarter-pound of butter. Another grocer who charged s|d per lb abovo wholesale price, instead of tho allowed by tho Food Regulations, was fined £15, it being stated that Danish butter must be sold at the control price. For 58lb of sugar and 261b of tea Frank Tucker, army cantcen waiter, waa fined £25 at Plymouth.
