ALLIED ACTIVITY IN LORRAINE. TffIOXYILLE WORKS BOMBED. Australian and N.Z. Cablo Association and Renter. LONDON, January 16. Sir D. Haig reports: There is the usual artillery activity.
Our aeroplanes Inst night- dropped a ton of bombs on the Thionvillo steel works, midway between Luxembourg and Mela: also a further half-ton of bombs on two large railway junctions in the neighbourhood of Metz. Considerable defences in the form of anti-aircraft searchlights and gun barrages were encountered/ but all our machines returned.
