" Reservist."—When a reservist enlists voluntarily it is the duty of the authorities to notify the Government Statistician, so that the recruit's name may bo withdrawn from the ballot. There is no provision made for a recruit being notified that this has been done. " Father of Boys in Service." —There may be elements in the case which were not disclosed that would render harsh the judgment you express. "Huntervillo. —The information you ask for is of a nature which we are precluded from giving. The Minister of Defence has, however, made statements on more than one occasion as to numbers of men who have left the dominion on active service.
