Drunkenness.—-A remand for seven days was allowed in the case of George Bertwistle, who was also charged with procuring liquor during the currency of a prohibition order. Andrew Cleary, who appeared on remand, was charged with drunkenneee and with using obscene language.—On the iirst charge he was ordered to pay_ £2 2s expenses, in default seven days' imprisonment; and on tho second charge he was required to pay £3 expenses. in default 14- days' imprisonment. Illegally on Premi?-s.— Robert MTVivrray was charged with drunkenness and also with being a rogue and vagabond.—According to Sub inspector Mathicson, the defendant, ■who was a ship's fireman, entered premises without lawful excuse by moans of a fire escape, und was found visiting various rooms. In one of the roo-ns 14s was removed from the clothes of a boarder.—Tho defendant said he was taken to the premises by a friend. —His ship's discharges gave him } good character. —He was fined 10s, in default *8 hours' imprisonment, on the first charge, and the second charge was dismissed.

Military Service Act. —Daniel Stevenson was charged with failing to register under the Act and with giving unsatisfactory answers to a police officer. —The defendant stated that he" had enlisted, but Lad been rejected.—He was remanded for a week for inquiries.
