SHORTAGE OF FARM LABOUR.

VARYING EXPERIENCES. (Fbom Our Own Cokeesposdent.) WELLINGTON, October 10. Varying views are expressed before Military Service Boards as to the shor'tage_ of farm labour. This was particularly noticeable this morning before the Third Wellington Board. A farmer appealing for a ploughman said ho had advertised for a man to fill his place, offering £3 per week, a free cottage, and firewood, but he got only one reply from a man with six children, and he was unsuitable. Captain Baldwin (military representative) recounted his own experiences. He had recently advertised, offering £3 per week and a "free cottage for a man, vil\o had to be able to plough and shear too. He got no fewer than 38 rcpLics, some of which he handed to the less fortunate seeker for help.
