ALBION CRICKET CLUB
Tho annual meeting of the Albion Cricket Club was hold last evening' in Mr F. Williams's rooms :'n George street, Mr J. J. Clark (president) in tho chair. In moving tho adoption of the report and balance sheet, the Chairman stated that in its 55 years of existence the club had a record of which it might very well be proud. It was the oldest cricket ciub in tho dominion, and right from its inception members had ' gone through playing tho game for the sake of the game and with loyalty to each other. Last year they decided to make a big eifort to carry til© club on, and with what success was shown in .tho report. The First Eleven played U matches and won 10, winning the championship. Mr Bell and Mr Keast had been a great source of strength to the club, the latter having the best batting average, with 66.2 runs per innings, and Mr Bell compiled the only century registered during the season, with 105 runs. Mr Cameron won the bowling average, with 33 wickets for .45 runs against him. Tho balance sheet showed receipts to be £14 15s lid, ana tho expenditure £9 16s 3d. Ho referred to the old members of tho club who wcro away on active service, and said they should endeavour to do all they could to show those men that while they were away playing tho game for the Empire those who could not go with them had done their bes"", to keep tho club and the game going. Mr L. Joel seconded the motion, and sa:d ho was satisfied .that the old members would put their shoulder to the wheel and assist in keeping tho club going. The motion was carried. Tho following officers were elected:— Patron, Sir Jame3 Allen; president, Mr J. J. Clark; vice-presidents—Messrs H. H. s! White, F. Williams, T. T. Ritchie, j! Baker, A. Bolwell, J. H. Duncan, R. BrinsW- Wallace, A. E. Keast, and W. l jckard; hon. secretary and treasurer, Mr A. Keast; delegates to the Otago Cricket Association—Messrs A. Keast, M'Connochie, and Stiglich; Selection Committee, Messrs Keast and N. Cameron; General Committee —Messrs H. Blackwood, J. Allen, W. Stiglich, N. Cameron, E. M'Connoehie A* Monk; auditor, Mr J. H. Duncan. It was decided to open the season on the first Saturday in October.
