The cantata, as its title implies, is descriptive of the Nativity, and includes several fine passages, which wero rendered with spirit by the combined voices. • The individual work was also of a very high standard, the vocalists being Mrs M'Fadyen, soprano; Mrs Gloves:, contralto; Mr C. M'Lcan, tenor; and Mr. H. Stewart, bass. Miss J. Tuck was the pianist, and Mr C. Hutton presided at the organ. The second part of the programme consisted of an anthem and a part song by the choir, a recitation by Miss Forrester, and solos by Misses Raine and R. Gale, and Messrs S. G. Firkin and Stanley Caldwell. The vocalists had to give an encore in each case before the demands of the audience were satisfied. •
