OTAGO ANGLERS' ASSOCIATION

, ANNUAL REPORT. Tho committee of tho Otago Anglers' Association, in presenting tho annual, report, ' regrets that the membership of tho assoi ciation is less than formerly. This has been 'caused by a number of tho younger members having joined tho colours, and the committee trusts that tho older anglers will rally round and keep tho association in a vigorous state. During the season four competitions were held, and another was arranged for the Shag River, but lapsed owing to insufficient entries. The Dunodin anglers found some good sport during tho seasou on Tomahawk lagoon, and some nice fish of from 31b to 61b were taken. The Water of Leith and Waitati provided some sport in fclio early part of tho season, but soon fell away, owing to tho low state, of tho water. Tho Waikouaiti River provided some excellent baskets, tho best being obtained at night with the fly. 'The Shag River, on which so many Duncdin anglers rely, was again very poor for angling, being very low and full of weed. During the winter it has been in high flood, and at present is in better condition than for many years. The best river last season was tho Pomahaka, and it was patronised by a largo number of anglers. The Wuipahi during tho first three months of tho season was in good order. The Mimihau and Wyndham streams were, as usual, responsible for some excellent fishing, but the Tolcomairiro River was hardly as good as usual, but is reported to bo in better order after the winter flood. The Otago Contra! streams provided a good deal of successful angling during the season. Several Duncdin anglers visited the Waitaki during the run of quinmit salmon, and speak glowingly of their experiences in that connection. The Fisheries Department has commenced the stocking of the Molyneux with salmon, so that Otago anglers may look forward to obtaining salmon fishing in their own district in tho course of a few years. The Acclimatisation Society is still vigorously pursuing the schemo of re-stocking largely with yearlings and two-year-old fish, which should rapidly improve tho streams for angling.
