VIOLENT FIGHTING NEAR THE VARDAR. SLIGHT ENEMY SUCCESS. Australian and K.Z. Cable Association and Reuter. LONDON, September 7. (Received Sept. 9, at 5.5 p.m.) A French Eastern communique says: On September 6 the artillery struggle was somewhat violent in the region of the Vardar, especially on the left bank, where the British artillery continued a destructive fire. The enemy twice attacked the Russian position's between Lakes Prespa and Ochrida. The first completely failed, but the second enabled an 'entry to be made to some elements of our advanced trenches.
