DUNEDIN ORPHANS' CLUB
VISIT BY TTMATUT SAVAGE GLTJB.
The members of the Timaru Savage Club paid a visit to the Dunedin Orphans' Club last evening. There was a large attendance of members of tho local club, and they eavo the visitors a right royal welcome. Bro. G. W. M'lntosh (president of the Orphans' Club) expressed pleasure in welcoming tho Savage braves from Timara.—(Applause.) The Orphans' Club had been looking forward to this visit with the greatest interest. They' all appreciated tho difficulties in tiho ■way of 14 or 15 business men getting away to Dunedin, and while they were- here he hoped they would enjoy themselves. He then vacated the chair and handed the control of the proceedings over to Chief Savage O. .F. Collins. In doing so he gave tho visitors a haka, which he eaid tho Orphans lcarnfc from tho savage.—(Applause.) Chief Savage Collins, in replying, said if the sentiments expressed in the haka wore in keeping with the actions of the haka then tho welcomo was indeed a very warm one.—(Applause.) Tho visitors provided the entertainment for , tho evening , , commencing with their opening chorus, " Hacro Tonu Ra " in true Native style, which was greeted with tumultuous applause. Tho programme was of a, varied character, each contributor to it being encored time and again. Those who contributed items were Savages Dudd, Nnylor, Crear, Pedder, O'Donoghiuo, A. Moore (songs). E. Crawford (instrumental Rplect ; on*}. Chapman (cornet eolq) ; and Savage O'Donoghu'e gave an exhibition of club swinging. Tho visitors are to be motored to Wairongoa to-day, and to-nifrht they are to be the frucsts of the Dunedin Commercial Travellers Club.
