Mails close at the Chief Post Office as under:— THIS DAY (THURSDAY), AUG. ,16. For Lyttelton and Christchurch, per Monowai, at 2 p.m. Late-fee letters C.P.O. 2.30 p.m., and steamer 3 p.m. Mails for South Sea Islands by next available steamer. Mails for United Kingdom, Expeditionary Forces abroad, America, and all oversea countries including Australia, will be despatched_ from' time to time by tho best route without special notification. Letters usually superscribed "via Suez" Bhould now be superscribed " for first direct steamer." Correspondence for all neutral oountries is subject to censorship.
