Bartholomew, S.M.) ■" Drunkenness.-€liarles Mack, described by Sub-inspector Mathioson as a "hopeless drunkard, with 30 previous convictions was fined £2, m default seven days' imprisonment,- while for a breach of his prohibition order a fine of 20s was imposed, in default three days' imprisonment. Committing Mischief.—Thomas a returned soldier, charged with attempting to break a window in the National Cash Register Company's premises, was remanded tM_ to-morrow in order that the police might make further inquiries Failing to Enrol.—William Hirst Griffiths was remanded till Monday so that inquiries might be made relative to defendant's statement that he enlisted in November but was rejected. His Worship thought that should defendant's statement be found to bo correct then tho major charge would be reduced to tho status of an ordinary technical offence, .
